High schoolers lack internships that could benefit them in the future. 11th and 12th graders are ‘disconnected’ from experience and ‘economic opportunity.’(Bansger,2013) “Students are missing out on relevant experience and making connections that could potentially launch them out into the business world.” (Short, 2014)” 92 percent of those who intern go on to college.” (Yollin, 2012) Currently at the researchers sample school there is a lack of internship resources for 11th and 12th graders. They do have junior achievement but it targets middle school not high schoolers in the 11th and 12th grades. The reason why the researcher is targeting 11th and 12th graders is because these are the students who are getting ready to make the leap to college. The researcher would like to help ease the way by making students more confident in their career options. 92 percent of those who intern go on to college because they can see the value of the education they are getting.(Yollin, 2012)
