There are 50.1 million students from Pre-k-12th grade. Of that 50 million there are 14.9 million students from grades 9-12.(Fast Facts, 2015) Across the U.S 46 percent of business support local high schools. (Short, 2014) That means 44 percent of the 14.9 million high school students don’t have an internship opportunity. Internships in college are getting harder and harder to get but approximately 70 percent of those who intern in highschool gain internships in college. In a survey 89 percent of companies said that students who took internship in high school have an advantage for getting a internship in college or for getting a full time job in college. About 83 percent said that they believe that an internship would help students attain higher paying jobs in the future. (Short, 2014)
